Why we love them

Charlie and Rory are two brothers who get stuff done. Chaz has been dabbling in the food trading world for a couple of years - and has chipped in and helped with many a KERBanist's stall - so he's done his homework. Teaming up with Rory came to him in a flash of inspiration whilst taking a sabbatical in Mozambique. There he was, getting down with village life in the heart of Africa when the idea for Fundi arrived. He jumped on the next plane home (sort of) and fired Rory up with the vision: building ovens / making pizzas - and frickin' good ones, at that.

We build our own wood-fired ovens and use them to blast our Neapolitan style pizzas, keeping it fresh, simple and quick. 
 
A Fundi is person skilled in maintaining or making specialised equipment, the word is used to describe the person who is called in to get the job done. We want to be Fundis. Fundo also refers to the foundation of things, the starting point, the fundamentals.
 
We want to make pizza because of its simplicity but also because the exactness in getting all the elements that make them. There is lots that go wrong but when done correctly the results are far greater that the sum of their parts. Its all about getting the fundamentals right.

 

Why the kerb life

Mainly it's variety of daily life, not having to go to the same place every day, being our own bosses. Festivals are where it's at for us, we love the atmosphere and going from event to event. We travel the country during the summer and hit the streets in the cooler months. Mixing it up and keeping it tasty. We eat well too.
