Job Description

KERB is dedicated to creating opportunity and joy, from the KERB up. We run exceptional street food markets, workshops, consultancy, bars, a food hall in Central London and have developed a successful event and catering business, KERB Events Limited. 

The Event Sales Manager will play a critical role within the events team, selling and planning some of the team’s largest and most complex events. They will also have a key role in driving events revenue through strong sales performance as well as effective venue and client relationship management. This role will also have specific responsibility for the business management of the events team, to include internal and external procedures, finance and management of the Events Administrator.

Main responsibilities and duties include: 

SALES, PLANNING AND ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT 

  • Driving event catering revenue through sales strategy and sales performance 
  • Responding to event enquiries in an effective and timely fashion 
  • Producing quotes and negotiating job scope and costs with clients, including upselling to clients when possible 
  • Specific responsibility for KERB’s larger and more complex enquiries and events, especially within KERB’s most prestigious venue listings
  • All pre-event planning to include site visits, contracting, trader briefings, menu development, tastings and the management of all client requirements and amendments
  • Effective hand over of any confirmed business to the operation team, remaining active as the main point of contact for planning and client account management 
  • Producing pre-event briefings for the operations team, traders and clients
  • On-site management of events where required 
  • Aftercare with clients and traders, especially ascertaining aspects of the service that could be improved and with the goal of securing repeat business
  • Working closely with the Managing Director and Marketing & Business Development Manager to set and implement sales strategy
  • Taking ownership of sales budgets to include revenue and GP targets
  • Regular reporting to the Managing Director on sales performance  

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT 

  • Line management of the Events Coordinator 
  • Management of all private and public event finances to include the creation, implementation and management of all finance reporting systems, acting as the main point of contact between the finance department and KERB Events Limited 
  • Management of all event procedures to include sales and confirmation process, trader communication and internal communication process
  • Continued analysis of all departmental procedures to identify any improvement and efficiencies 
  • Implementation of any new processes or procedures to improve the systems or structures of KERB Events 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • 3 – 5 years experience of working in event sales, ideally within an events catering company 
  • Experience in venue and/or client account management
  • A proven track record of hitting and exceeding sales targets
  • A strong understanding of commercial models and quoting systems 
  • An understanding of the current London-based events and catering industry
  • An interest in the independent food industry and wider food scene of London
  • Someone who has been to KERB markets and/or events, knows KERB and loves KERB, and who is passionate about working with small businesses to help make events more exciting 
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to talk to clients and traders in a consultative manner and developing long-term relationships 
  • Proactive / self-starter with lots of initiative
  • Outstanding hustle
  • Drivers license is preferable
